Workhunters vs Teal

Checked against Teal own site on 2026-08-30

The short version

  • Teal does not send applications. It helps you build a resume and keep track of a search you are running yourself.
  • Workhunters runs the search: it finds the roles, registers on the portals, submits, and reads the replies. There is no line-by-line resume editor; you upload yours or let us generate one.
  • These two pair well: shape the resume in Teal, let Workhunters carry the volume.
  • Both have free tiers with no card. Teal prices its paid tier by the week; our plans are monthly, metered by applications.

These are not really substitutes. Anyone comparing them is deciding what kind of help they want.

Teal is built around the paperwork of a search: your resume, and the record of where it went. It helps you write the document and keep the log straight.

We are built around the applying. Roles come up, you approve them, and the agent fills in and sends the applications, portal signups and emailed codes included.

What Teal is

Teal is a resume builder and job application tracker, with a Chrome extension that bookmarks jobs from more than 40 job boards as you browse.

It is aimed at somebody running their own search who wants the paperwork in order: a resume they control, and a clear record of where it went.

It does not apply to jobs on your behalf.

What Workhunters is

Workhunters is a job search agent. It indexes openings from employer careers pages, matches them against your profile, and then fills in and submits the applications for you.

The part that is unusual is the last step. You approve the roles you want. After that the agent opens the posting, fills the form, creates an account on the company portal if one is required, reads the verification code out of a dedicated inbox we give you, uploads the resume, and submits. It runs on our machines, so it works whether or not your laptop is open.

Replies come back to that same inbox, get read, and move the application status along, so interviews and rejections show up without you sorting mail. Free covers 10 applications a month with no card. A credit is only spent when an application is actually attempted, and it comes back if the attempt fails.

What it comes down to

Teal does not send applications and does not claim to. That is a different job, not a missing feature. Worth saying plainly: if your resume is the weak link, something that sends faster will only send a weak resume to more places.

Pricing

Teal. Freemium, with a paid tier called Teal+. A free-forever tier with unlimited resumes and job tracking, no credit card. Teal+ is headlined at "$13 / Week", billed weekly, monthly or quarterly, per their homepage.

Workhunters. Monthly plans with one-time credit packs on top. Free covers 10 applications a month with no card. Starter is $29 a month for 100. Pro is $99 a month for 500. A credit is spent only when an application is attempted, and refunded when one fails.

Who each one is for

Workhunters. Your resume is in decent shape already. The problem is that the applications are not going out.

Teal. Your resume needs work, you want to shape it yourself, and you want a tidy record of a search you are running by hand.

Where Teal is the better choice

  • Teal has a proper resume editor you drive yourself, line by line. Ours generates the document, which is less control than writing it.
  • If the resume is what is holding you back, that is Teal ground and not ours.
  • Teal has a browser extension for saving roles as you browse. We have none.

Where Workhunters is the better choice

  • Applications get sent, not just logged after you send them.
  • Portal signups and emailed codes are handled end to end, which covers the half of postings that demand an account before the form opens.
  • Roles come off employer careers pages we index, so the search runs whether or not you go looking.
  • You can keep your own resume exactly as you wrote it. A toggle sends your file untouched, with only the contact email swapped to your Workhunters address.
  • Employer replies get read and the status moves on its own, in an inbox that keeps the whole search out of your personal email.

Questions

Does Teal apply to jobs for me?

No. Teal helps you build a resume and track applications you send yourself. We are the one that sends.

Should I use both?

That pairing makes more sense than most. Get the resume right in a dedicated builder, then let something else carry the volume.

Can I use my own resume with Workhunters?

Yes. There is a toggle for it. Leave it on and employers get your exact document, with only the contact email swapped to your Workhunters address so replies reach you. Leave it off and we write one per job, adapting the summary and skills to the role while your history stays as you entered it.

What does Workhunters cost?

Free for 10 applications a month, no card. $29 a month for 100, $99 a month for 500. One-time credit packs stack on any plan. For Teal current pricing, check their site.
